(August 16, 2006) --
Creative living arrangements are being forged by young professionals in cities across the country, as soaring home prices and rising rents make it difficult for them to afford shelter.
Some are using zero-down-payment and interest-only mortgages to achieve homeownership, while others are purchasing homes with siblings and friends and renting out extra bedrooms to generate additional income.
Still others are opting for cohousing developments--in which residents share common areas, meals, child care, vehicles, and other resources.
